Malin Kundang in Pantai Air Manis Padang

You must have heard the legend of Malin Kundang, a child who was cursed into stone by her mother because it was considered rebellious. This legend is attached to Sweet Water Beach in West Sumatra and has become one of the attractions for tourists.

On one side of the beach, you can see the Batu Malin Kundang and several pieces of equipment from his ship who is also petrified. Based on folklore, Malin Kundang condemned for refusing to recognize his mother after a long voyage at sea and became rich.

In addition to the legend of Malin Kundang, which makes Sweet Water Beach became a favorite tourist site for local and foreign tourists is because the waves are low and the beautiful scenery of Gunung Padang.

There is also a small island called Little Banana beach on the right side. From morning to evening, you can walk around the island is an area of one hectare through shallow water or sitting under gazebos and enjoy the ocean view. But in the afternoon when the high tide, you must use the ship to return.

On the right side of the island of Small Banana, one island again named the Big Banana. Local residents on this island are mostly farmers and fishermen. If you want to spend the night at the Big Banana Island, you can stay in the homes of local residents or to use their own tents.

Besides these two islands banana, there is also a Sikuai Island. Here you can try water sports such as surfing and diving. The island is famous for its white sand.

Visiting the Sweet Water Beach is not complete without buying souvenirs because here many stalls selling various souvenirs, like T-shirts, clothing, bags and other crafts.

Another interesting thing is the few stalls only sell small and large craft made of coral-Rp5.000 priced between 50,000, not cheap enough.

Sweet Water Beach locations are easily found and only 15 kilometers from the center of Padang. If coming from outside the island of Sumatra by using aircraft, from Minangkabau International Airport, you can go to Air Manis Padang with the past.

If you want to use public transport, you must first go to the Pasar Raya Plaza Central from the airport exit at Simpang Ketaping. From downtown, you can take public transportation route Bungus Padang.
